BBC Three returning

So on 1st Feb it's officially back. Think they're even having a launch party or something.

I have very fond memories of it back in the 00's. Great dramas, comedies and documentaries. I don't know why they've randomly brought it back though, can't imagine being the same as the glory years going by the content they put on i player. But who knows, will definitely keep an eye on it.

I used to loveeeeeeee BBC Three back in the day. Sun Sex and Suspicious Parents, Snog Marry Avoid, The Baby Borrowers (needed more series of that), World's Strictest Parents, The Real Hustle and Don't Tell The Bride were favourites when I was a teenager.

Loved Two Pints as well, still do.

I enjoyed the channel a lot as well, I will say at the time of it's removal from television I did think a big mistake was being made so will be interesting to see it back.

The slug idents which would speak with quotations from BBC3 shows were great, as were the 60 Seconds news bulletins. Then of course there was the programming.

Interesting!

I suspect the BBC are trying to secure their future and younger people aren't paying for it. The average BBC viewer is something like 60 I believe. Stupid decision to axe that and suggest to axe 6 music when they attracted the very demographic that is needed to support the organisation so it continues 🤦‍♀️

Personally I think BBC four should be axed and somewhat high brow shows should return to BBC two. There's little difference between one and two these days and both are full of repeats.

I remember everyone being quite snobby at the prospect of BBC3 staying over BBC4 at the time. As if Three was the trash channel and Four was for the intellectuals. Like you said though, they gave up on it anyway and it's just repeats. Don't think it would be that missed now.

I have great fondness for BBC3 of the 00s! Loved the docs, original comedies (Gavin and Stacy, three non blondes, uncle, little Britain!), and stuff like liquid news, it just felt very cool at the time! But (and maybe being 32 I'm no longer in their demographic!) I must say the new three is embarrassing.

Winter Olympics, rap battles, drag race and EastEnders reruns. It feels as if there is zero budget at this point. Plus itv has late night family guy now, which was a big draw for three back in the day.

The whole thing feels kinda lazy imo.

I used to love BBC3 in the 00s/10s when I was a child/pre-teen 🥰 snog marry avoid was a big favourite of mine. And Bizarre ER!

Although can’t really say I’ve watched much of the new programming it has to offer. I wonder if Waterloo road, when it returns later this year, will air on this channel instead of on BBC One? I know it aired on BBC One in the past but it seems like a good fit for BBC Three too.

I'm sure they put Waterloo Road on BBC Three towards the end of the last run of the show. Would still expect it to be BBC one though this time.

Yeah been looking over the last few days and the schedule is well tit. Can't see me watching much of it or even looking out for stuff. And I agree with Family Guy, I associated it with BBC3 for years.
