I keep seeing stories pop up in my news feed, mostly from the Daily Mail, that were trying to suggest that the BBC somehow killed him by 'sacking him', ignoring the fact he still had a show every week and special shows on bank holidays/Christmas/BBC Sounds.

Today they are running with ' the BBC deprived people of the last 18 months of his life'.

It is horrible that they are using this to try and push their anti-bbc agenda by spreading hurtful things like this this.

I agree. I get some people don’t like the BBC and think it should be disbanded. But some people also need to think about why the Daily Mail is pushing a narrative which is verifiably not true. It helps their narrative to spread distrust in the BBC which is what they want.

I despise the daily mail. He was 69 and allegedly had health issues. It’s not unheard of. It’s so sad but if you see recent photos of him it’s not completely unimaginable. I’m going to relisten to last Sundays love songs on bbc sounds today.

And he was named as one of the key people in the launch of the forthcoming Radio 2 oldies station so had an exciting project to look forward to.

BBC have announced Jordan North will be leaving his show from March, and is being replaced by Jamie Laing.

Seems very sudden and he hasn’t posted a comment yet - perhaps not his decision to leave?
Just seen this! Very suspicious 🤨 Jordan was the only decent presenter left on r1 imo and I cannot stand Jamie Lang, so this will be another switch to r2 for me!
I think this will massively dent the drive time audience listeners.

Yes, couple that with it being immediate effect - I think something has happened.

Greg was also off this morning?

Greg has covid, he posted this on his insta stories

I reckon he's been offered a load of money to move to a commercial radio station and as a result has broken his contract with Radio 1. They're pis*ed because in the words of Regina George, they 'like totally made him!'
Jamie Lang is insufferable, had to switch when he was on with Matt.

I think it's pretty standard if someone moves from BBC to commercial radio (and vice versa) they usually leave with immediate effect - I've seen a few suggestions he could be taking over from Roman Kemp at Capital, which sounds plausible

Jamie Laing though? I get he's a name, but radio 1 have always made a big deal about finding and promoting new talent, and this feels completely at odds with that

Exactly, usually you have to work your way up for years to be offered a premo spot like drive time. Although the current talent pool at r1 is so bad, they didn't have anyone 'in house' who could fill the spot.
