Gutted to hear about Annie, back in the 80s I moved 350 miles away to Uni and I would try and time the long drive home to coincide with her show just to ease the pain a bit, still remember a bizarre space based request show!
Oh I loved her request show, a real mainstay of Sunday nights for me (after the Top Forty!)

Greg James has just done his London joke twice in five minutes. The full thing with the full Coronation Street compilation. Twice. Kin ell.

Not sure I want to know - but what is his London joke?

He's a massive irritant. He's wormed his way over to Radio 4 now too with a programme called Rewinder (I think?). I can't listen. Lots of clunky cultural references and pretend humble little in-jokes eg says something quite bland then 'or is that just me then? Awkward'.

It’s this clip from Corrie that he plays every time someone says the word London. Basically a bunch of characters all going, “London? Not London! London, oh not London!” which he then mimics. The joke being that outsiders are disdainful of going to the capital. But he has done this joke so many times now it’s just embarrassing 😌

Robert Elms has managed to keep his shows on BBC Radio London, in fact he's getting an extra hour on Sundays. He asked listeners what might fill the extra time. Why not a weekly segment called 'I live at the Barbican on the 34th floor'? Listeners who don't need to be constantly reminded of this fact could avoid that hour. (During today's show he mentioned the fact five separate times in a little over an hour  ).

It's ridiculous and insulting that Gary Crowley retains one hour only, seemingly tacked on to the end of Bobby-from-the-Barb's Saturday show, presumably due to the new schedule favouring 4-hour shows.
I stopped listening to him when he got that flat..the constant bragging is just too much..
He just repeats himself, always butting in when people are talking. He always needs to top trump everyone! So flipping annoying ..I can't believe he's still banging on about the flipping barbican 🤣
