From a few comments he's made on air, it seems Jason Rosam doesn't have anything new lined up once his BBC "national local"/ BBC Radio London shows finish this Friday morning. He has remained very dignified about the changes, maybe he'll let rip in some way on the last show! I hope he's picked up elsewhere, I would happily seek him out.

Carrie and David Grant getting 4-hour shows on BBC RL will be painful. While I admire them as musical professionals and for their work for various causes I avoid their shows which consist of wacky news stories that are often weeks old. Not to mention asking listeners (the same half-dozen) to phone in with lists of song titles containing certain words: Can you think of a song title with the word "The", "And" or "You"?

Robert Elms will be keeping his BBC Radio London shows, with some shifting around as he put it. The schedule says Sundays from 10am to 2pm. Let's hope he'll continue with the wide variety of music, knowledgeable regular contributors and interviews about relevant books, events etc. At his best he's been one of my favourite broadcasters so I hope he can curb his increasing need to trumpet his credentials as an I-invented-it-I-was-there-first-oldie-hipster. Don't get me wrong, sometimes personal anecdotes are perfectly relevant and expand the discussion but most times his are cringey ego flexes dropped in, he really should know the difference. He's on a hair trigger to let interview subjects know who they're dealing with, god forbid a guest says anything that indicates they're unaware that he speaks Spanish, lives in the Barbican, or wears Savile Row suits, he'll soon let them know. As an example, he got very snippy on his show last Saturday when interviewing US producer Todd Eckert, about the Ryuichi Sakamoto immersive event at the Roundhouse. When RE asked about the viewer experience, Todd said the event was staged "in the round" but RE fired back defensively "I know the Roundhouse very well..." apparently affronted it might be thought he was unaware of the shape of the building, when the guest was merely referring to the staging layout.

I enjoyed the Madonna countdown when cooking our New Year’s Day meal yesterday. Although I like Michelle Visage, her show about Madonna was a bit all over the place.

Jo Good is on BBC 1's Pointless Celebrities just now, promoting her YouTube channel

That is her raison d'etre. She shamelessly calls her mother (who was then 96, now 99) clickbait.

She does the same on her BBC radio show, always mentions that you can go to her socials to see, for example, photos of dogs during her walk in the park, or video of her mum on YouTube. She reads out the handle on-air so people visit her channels and on her ads for all manner of fashion and beauty brands, full of clickable affiliate links that pay her commissions.

Jason Rosam just finished his last 5 to 6am national early breakfast. Now he has to do his last 6-7am on BBC London. He had been an employee, not just a freelancer, at the BBC for 16 years, and said he would be unemployed when he walks out the doors.

For the first time ever he has given his Insta handle so listeners can keep in touch, unlike a certain colleague who promotes her socials regularly on air in order to sell beauty and fashion. The colleague also moaned on air constantly when the local radio changes were being mooted, and then rolled out, but shut up as soon as she knew she was one of a few to keep a job there. Where as Jason remained dignified and professional throughout that time.

Good luck Jason.

Greg James annoys the tit outta me 😠 The number of times I have to turn the radio off while in the middle of something because he repeats some stupid noise (that wasn’t funny the first time) again and again and again. That awful ten to ten thing he does 😠 My god I can’t stand the twit!

I had an ex who was friends with a few of the Radio 1 presenters and we went out for drinks - can confirm Greg is a twit and even worse when tipsy.

oooh, spill
It was 10+ years ago now, all met in a pub near the Radio 1 building (can’t remember why). Greg was really drunk and obnoxious. I remember Scott Mills being quite quiet.

Same ex got me in the VIP area at Radio 1 Big Weekend in Norwich and I met some of the DJs and a few pop stars. And met Scott again briefly and snuck a pic 🤣

Robert Elms has managed to keep his shows on BBC Radio London, in fact he's getting an extra hour on Sundays. He asked listeners what might fill the extra time. Why not a weekly segment called 'I live at the Barbican on the 34th floor'? Listeners who don't need to be constantly reminded of this fact could avoid that hour. (During today's show he mentioned the fact five separate times in a little over an hour  ).

It's ridiculous and insulting that Gary Crowley retains one hour only, seemingly tacked on to the end of Bobby-from-the-Barb's Saturday show, presumably due to the new schedule favouring 4-hour shows.

Yes the Gary Crowley show does seem tacked on, which is a shame. I agree that Robert should keep the Barbican/neighbourhood comments to a minimum. The 2Tone exhibition in the Library there sounds great though, I'm going to get along to that.
