Claudia leaving, Romesh taking over
Oh, that's a shame. Hers is one of my fave shows - a great selection of music and she's always great with the guests. No more playing along with "What would Sally Do?" on the way home from parkrun. 😔

I like Romesh but I love Claudia. I hope Romesh doesn't sneak in loads of hip hop/rap, with that genre being his specialism.

There’s certain people that once the BBC think they’re even slightly popular, they get hold of them and put them on everything - doesn’t matter what it is, presenting telly, radio, reality programmes, whatever. You probably quite liked them at first, but then because they’re shoved down your throat every day you end up in a situation where you can’t stand the sight and / or sound of them anymore. Unfortunately Romesh has found his way into that category for me.

I have a list 😂

Slightly off topic, but has anyone else ever taken part in a RAJAR survey? I am doing one this week. Someone looking for volunteers for the survery knocked on door last week. I agreed to let them come in and set me up for survey because it had been snowing and he looked really cold.

I Had to download an app and log every time I listened to the radio for a week, how long for and what station. Also had to fill in a questionnaire about myself and how I listened to the radio ( eg did I listen on a DAB radio/desktop/TV channel etc).

I honestly didn't realise this was how they how they got listening data. I thought they had some technological way of working out listeners. I guess they just sample the population and then estimate off that or something 🤔

I am dissapointed that there wasn't a question in survey about why I didn't listen to commercial radio very often, because I wanted to write TO MANY BLOODY ADVERTS.

The only reason I know about it is every so often over the years Chris moyles would describe the rajar diaries.

@TheStrawberryThief I really hoped it was more scientific, and Radio 2 KNEW that EVERY time Richie Bloody Anderson comes on that I (and hopefully countless others) were turning over for the 3 mins he was prattling on. Sigh.

I don't think Ken liked Richie Anderson much either . That was probably why he moved stations...

I am sure Richie is a lovely person irl but there is something about him that is really irritating. I feel like he has a bit of a ' stink of desperation' around him , like he is so desperate to be one of those cool bbc presenters and he had to push himself into places and insert himself into conversations to make himself involved.

My mum says that he 'would get where a draft wouldn't '.

My current least favourite show on Radio 2 is Rob Beckett. Mostly because I resent him for taking Paul's show ( even though someone else will have made that choice), and I just feel his show feels out of tone with the other Sunday shows. Sunday is generally a very chill day on radio 2, and his show suddenly just ramps the energy back up. It needs a more chill and cosy vibe imo.

I'm enjoying listening to Radio 4's output on a Sunday morning 7-10am, Ed Stourton presents the week's ethical & religious issues, war, news, how folk live around the world etc.
I'm in no way religious, just find it an interesting listen.
(I even like listening to the church service at 8am)
Broadcasting House at 9am with Paddy O'Connell is always good too.

Yes I find Sunday morning R4 quite comforting. It is good there is still an output for deep thought and discussion - whether you agree with it or understand or not 😂

And Paddy O'Connell is just great. Such a skilled broadcaster. I associate him so much with R4 it always surprises me when he sometimes pops up on R2 or talking about Eurovision. He is up there with the great Eddie Maier for me.

Oooohhh...I'm probably in the minority here but I just can't listen to Paddy O'Connell. Something about him is just so smug and obnoxious. I've only ever heard him filling in on R2 (don't listen to R4) but it's a firm no from me and as soon as I hear him I have to switch off!

Interesting!
I wonder if he is different on R2 (I don't listen much tbh only Coxy when I'm driving).

I can't really put my finger on it. I can tell that he's an experienced and accomplished broadcaster but I just find him very unlikeable. It's mostly been when he's covering the Jeremy Vine slot but also the odd show/feature here and there too.

Horses for courses, I guess. 😁

I like these programmes too, there's a good dip into lots of issues, intelligently presented.
