Scott doesn't seem to have gelled as well in his new home. I liked him on 1 and can understand why 2 brought him across in the hope his audience would follow, but to me he still sounds like he's doing his Radio 1 show on Radio 2.
I know what you mean but I think that's probably what I like about Scott's show - it reminds me of my R1 listening days and makes me feel less ancient! I guess the Music Police feature is a bit of a concession though (as most R2 shows have a quiz type feature) and that's my favourite part of his show.

Sara Cox is my absolute favourite though and I won't hear a bad word said about her! 😁

I can confirm Sara Cox is lovely and so friendly. Met her on an 80’s cruise the morning that Chris Evans announced his departure from Breakfast on R2. Much discussion about if she would get the job, mortgage would be paid for life and how her phone blew up whilst she was in the shower that morning before heading to the ship. Her bodyguard was very friendly too once he knew you were not a danger to Sara!

Same for me - I loved it when Vernon sat in on R2 and looked forward to his new show. What people forget is Ken was the same age as Vernon when he started on R2 - it just this generation of 50 yos are much younger than back in the day!

If no one enjoyed his show, there's no way he would have raised £4million!

I was looking forward to Scott's arrival but have to say I tend to switch over to Dean and Vicky on R1 when he's on.......

I'm the opposite, I switch over to Scott when Dean and Vicky come on 😅 just can't warm to Dean at all! Horses for courses!

Ahhh....lovely! I'm not surprised that she's so friendly and chatty. She comes across as a genuinely nice lady and I bet she'd be a right laugh on a night out. She seems quite pally with Scott so I reckon he's OK too.

🙉 o-oh seems like Tina Daheley had no idea how to say Mark Knopfler on the 8am news this morning on R2 and called him Mark Kopfler. Thankfully corrected by the end of the bulletin. Surprised she had never heard of him but then again I think only Ken would have played dire straits if he was still there.

😱 Just read your post and totally panicked - had to check that Knopfler hadn't died! Very pleased to see that that's not why he made today's news! The man is a legend though. Very surprised that she hasn't heard of him.

Dire Straits pop up on R2 fairly often. I seem to recall Vernon playing a live track, not so long ago, on his feature where he plays old archived stuff from the vaults.

Same here! Momentary panic.
Only watched Local Hero the other day again and his music is just so beautiful.

I would say Scott has changed up his show quite a bit from R1, especially the most recent R1. You could tell he was getting a bit disillusioned with the music etc and he seems much happier on 2 where he can play stuff he actually likes.

Lol I'm 20 years younger than Scott and I'm getting disillusioned with R1 🤣 It's literally the same 10 songs going round and round. I even found myself thinking 'these singers all sound the same'. Am I right or am I getting old?!

Oh, don't worry! It's just because he generally keeps a low profile these days that I instantly jumped to the worst possible conclusion.

Hopefully he doesn't feature on Tattle's Celeb Death Pool thread because he's going to live forever! 🤗
He will live forever if he's on there 😁

I moved over to radio 2 at the time I started thinking the same.
Coincidentally I was about 30. 😁
And you're definitely not old - you're just more experienced :p

No this is the problem with radio 1! They have a playlist they have to play so each DJ gets the same songs and they pick the order.. whether they like the song or not if it’s on the playlist it gets played. I think R2 DJs get much more discretion..

I do enjoy Vern now he has settled in. I especially like all the archive stuff he plays.

I really like the weekend schedule at the moment ( appart from Steve), I hear a lot of tracks at the weekend that don't get played a lot during the week. My favourite weekend shows are Liza, Rylan and Johnny Walker. They all sound like they are having so much fun. It will be a sad day when Jonny Walker finally retires.

Love Johnnie Walker, he's up there (not quite) with Tony Blackburn.
