Vernon Kay is a cringey listen. He needs a co-presenter to bounce off as there's so much dead air or him just laughing at his own jokes.
My Radio 2 listening has been whittled down to just Sounds of The 60's with Tony on a Saturday morning, I like Liza Tarbuck but she clashes with Strictly  just now.
Occasionally catch a bit of Jeremy Vine if in car on the way to work.
Changed days

I'm enjoying a programme on BBC Radio Scotland on a Sat morning 10-11.30am - Shereen (Nanjiani) ex-STV newsreader, she usually has 3 guests on to review the week's News, latest TV shows, Films, politics, a bit of everything, it's a bit like Radio 4's Sat morning show.
She seems to have the same group of guests mind you, just alternating them, 1 or 2 are kind of annoying 😁

Why does vernon ALWAYS cut songs short?
And chat tit well into the intros!
Ego
Steve Wright style

Ego is right, cf Jo Good. Not only does she talk over the intros, she interrupts in the middle of tracks and often cuts them short too. There have obviously been compaints which she refers to, most recently saying she knows she does this but "That's Jo!!" egotistically referring to herself in the third person.

There doesn't seem to be much love for Vernon's R2 show on this thread. Personally I don't really mind him and quite enjoy his show but even those who don't must surely give him credit for putting in such a fantastic effort on his ultra-marathon challenge. He's raised £3.75m for Children in Need, so far, with a few miles left to go. 🙌

I have to say I was gutted about Ken going and thought we'd migrate across with him.....but we've stuck with Radio 2 and Vernon's show has really grown on me. Even the quiz which I hated at first. And the same hasn't happened with Scott's show. He has done incredibly well with this challenge.

Same for me - I loved it when Vernon sat in on R2 and looked forward to his new show. What people forget is Ken was the same age as Vernon when he started on R2 - it just this generation of 50 yos are much younger than back in the day!

If no one enjoyed his show, there's no way he would have raised £4million!

I was looking forward to Scott's arrival but have to say I tend to switch over to Dean and Vicky on R1 when he's on.......

Yes, I think Vernon was a good enough choice and he deserves his slot. There are lots of R2 stand-in presenters that I definitely wouldn't tune in for. I enjoyed listening to Ken and I did listen regularly but, even so, I can't say that I particularly miss his show in all honesty.

I do feel the same way about Scott though. I really enjoy his show and don't really miss Steve Wright, despite the familiarity of it as a (former) regular listener.

Vern has put in a sterling effort with this challenge, no question, but (and I'm not sure if it's my imagination) it feels like the Beeb has got behind this challenge a bit more than others in recent years. Maybe because he's got broader appeal? Or maybe just because it's over several days and he's out and about, mingling with the public, rather than the 24hr studio-based challenges which other R2 presenters have done in recent years?

Anyway, regardless of that, he's put in a fantastic shift and he'll definitely have picked up new listeners along the way so I'm pleased for him.

I'll add my name to the list of love for Vernon's show. I find him the perfect fit for Radio 2 - he has broad appeal, a TV profile and I'm really getting into Ten to the Top. Scott doesn't seem to have gelled as well in his new home. I liked him on 1 and can understand why 2 brought him across in the hope his audience would follow, but to me he still sounds like he's doing his Radio 1 show on Radio 2.
