I now listen to Boom radio. Tuned into GHR but was full of adverts which put me off. But will listen to Ken when he's there!

Greatest Hits Radio is launching an ad free paid for version of the station for £3.99 a month in time for Ken starting (free trial for the first thirty days), so you'll still be able to listen to Popmaster commercial free.

Some great music indeed, there's nothing like these sounds nowadays.
Would be great if bbc radio did this more often, celebrate a classic album by playing tunes all day from that year.
The cynic in me says they are trying to keep radio 2 listeners annoyed by the changes, from tuning away from bbc radio 😁
---

The 2nd contestant on PopMaster got a very tough set of questions, quite unfair.
I agree - it would be a great format for them to follow. It's been cracking music all day. I listened from 8-7.

I was listening to BBC WorldService a few days ago, they had a report about Johnson & Johnson, the huge healthcare/medical company who make Baby Powder.
Seems they are stopping production of their famous Baby Powder using Talcum, which is mined where Asbestos is found.
Over 25,000 lawsuits have been filed against the company in the USA/Canada claiming the Talcum Powder has caused ovarian cancer.
Johnson & Johnson have paid out billions in claims and haven't sold it in North America since 2020.
The product will know be made from a corn-starch based powder.

I applied for popmaster and a researcher called me, they asked me 5 questions I needed to get at least 3 right to be in with a chance of appearing. I got 3 right and they said they’d be in touch but they never did 😂

I have good music knowledge but don’t have the right type of personality to get on.

Used to listen to Saturday Live on radio 4 at 9am but it's just so pretentious, Rev Coles does me in.
Started listening to radio Scotland now from 8am, they review the week's news, then at 10am Shereen & guests review tv, movies, books, news etc.
It's a decent listen.

I rather like Rev Coles and Saturday Live, although it can be a touch twee.
This morning's show was a bit of a mess though. There was a point where I thought Johnny Vaughan was the host, and the Thank You section has become a cutesy to-and-fro fest of storytelling, rather than the first person, which makes the format (sometimes) more compelling.

Yes!
The Johnny Vaughan interview went on for far too long. About 40 minutes out of an hour and a half programme. Never ending.
Rev Richard seemed a bit subdued today. Only briefly mentioned being in a band and on tour.

(I mentioned it on the Desert Island Discs thread but David Sedaris was good I thought. Awful music choices 😂 but he is a obviously a good raconteur. Can't remember who is tomorrow.)

Do any of you know how much someone like Dermot O'Leary makes from his BBC radio 2 show? I saw online that his net worth was £2+, but nothing about his BBC salary. He only presents once a week so I'm curious what he would make for that one show. The same with Rylan, he also presents one show per week.
