I am trying to understand the timeline of the events. How old is ‘Martha’ alleged to be? The SA happened 11 years ago, and he used it for material 4 years later at the fringe, and won an award. Then a couple years later used the baby reindeer show there too. On the Netflix show it seemed to span over a length of time

I think it’s when she gets a bit wild and excited that the spelling goes to tit. There’s one long, fully capitalised post on her fb kicking off about Camden and the Hawley Arms and the spelling is shocking. Like some of her more unhinged emails to RG when she just added “ipheon” at the bottom 😅

This tweet says she was 51 (back in 2016) and her toyboy is 26…

She has tweets from 2014 where she was @ ing Richard so that’s 10 years ago, which would make the timeline match up..

I don’t feel sorry for her either, she sounds like a nasty vindictive piece of work, ill or not. Her Facebook posts are literally just her spewing bile to herself. No one is responding to anything she posts, she must live a very miserable existence sat on Facebook ranting into thin air all day.
 
I knew someone who was sectioned for harassing their elderly neighbour as in 85 years old. She would throw tit at their windows, accuse them of poisoning her, stealing from her. She's still in denial about it but at least medicated. She's on a treatment order so if she won't have the medication she will be recalled to hospital.
I don't know how real Martha hasn't had the same thing. She's obviously delusional
 
I think her ability to spell is definitely related to her emotional regulation at the time.

Last week I thought the show was an amazing example of the impact of trauma on people’s behaviour (both his and hers). This week this just all feels quite unpleasant and seedy.
 
I watched this all in one sitting last night. I found the show very gripping, difficult to watch and the whole thing has left me feeling weird.

On the one hand, I think RG sharing his story of male sexual abuse and the impact abuse has on the discourse of your life is incredibly powerful. I understand how this retelling can be seen as reclaiming what happened to him.

However - “Martha” is clearly very, very mentally unwell and RG and the production team have done a very poor job in protecting her identity. I’m finding it quite hard to digest that RG is documenting his struggles with a lack of consent and boundaries, yet “Martha” hasn’t been able to consent this. Everyone posting screenshots of her socials and doxxing her, in my opinion, is showing a lack of boundary and while you can argue that yes she’s clearly an incredibly hateful person who doesn’t understand boundaries herself, I can’t see what also this exposing her real identity is going to achieve. If anything, it’ll cause more harm than good.

Exposing her real identity means people are more aware of who she is, hopefully preventing her from getting away with this again in the future.

Like many have said, if roles reversed and “Martha” was a male stalking a female I doubt very much people would be advocating to protect their identity…

She’s posting these things publicly so I wouldn’t really say it’s showing a lack of boundary…a lack of boundary would be if she had a private account and we were adding her & screenshotting - these are all public posts..

I don’t know if I’d say she ‘got away with it’ because she went to prison and now has a restraining order. That being said, I don’t think she is well enough to be out in the general public and should be in some sort of mental health institution.

Id say the same if the gender was reversed, I just dont see what good can come of exposing her accounts I’m afraid. People are going to engage with her and all that’s going to do is feed into her own delusions. She’s clearly very skilled in finding out about people and their lives, obtaining information about them. What’s to say she won’t do that to these people engaging with her on social media?

She didn’t go to prison he said he didn’t want someone as crazy as her to have to go through prison or something similar but he got a restraining order
She is definitely bonkers lol she goes by another name also I think this is an article about her

He said in the first episode she got 4.5 years for one incident and in the last episode she got 9 months in prison for harassing him. Happy to be corrected if I’ve missed that was fictional, though.
 
It’s a powerful piece of television but Netflix and Gadd have really fucked up here. They could easily have made the two abusive characters unidentifiable without compromising the art. I love comedy and I know a lot of Fringe shows can be raw and shocking but when you’re adapting something for Netflix it’s going worldwide and you can’t treat it like a tiny stage at the Pleasance. God knows how Martha will react to her new fame, but what they really need to worry about is the male abuser. He’s obviously someone with a level of power who will have the means to take legal action, let alone the other names being falsely accused. I know making art like this can be cathartic but I don’t believe Richard Gadd has addressed his demons adequately and he’s drawn to creating chaos which could end up very self-destructive. And those of you who don’t think it’s a big deal that he used the lure of an audition to get a date with at least one struggling actress need to take a look at yourselves

She didn’t go to prison in real life I think they just added some extras for the viewers lol

Not sure either if she went to prison for the other incident only found the one article with her other name
