I would be surprised if netflix didnt have proof of all 3 its risky for them but also is she really a threat? I dunno why I believe her on those 3 points but I do plus the fact RG has said she didnt go to prison for stalking him.

If he’s said she didn’t go to prison that’s at least one they don’t have proof for. Similarly people think the SA wasn’t meant to be “true” so I doubt they’ve got proof for that either.

The more publicity she gets, the more likely it is she gets someone offering to take her case. I’m sure there are a lot of real legal people out there (unlike FH) who would love to get a high publicity win over Netflix on the books.

surely if she had gone to prison for stalking him there would be news reports online. It took me about 30 seconds to find newspaper coverage of her historic behaviour in Scotland to a well known politician and others.
In which case Netflix have told a big fat lie saying Baby Reindeer is a true story, as opposed to based on/inspired by a true story.
I just don’t understand why Netflix would leave themselves wide open on this? Makes the network look pretty stupid and irresponsible.

Highlighting just this piece because it's late my ADHD meds are wearing off 😂 (comorbidity bliss)!

As someone who received a diagnosis in adulthood, when trying to explain traits/symptoms/what does it mean (when asked), I've been so commonly hit back with "Oh I do that too, I'm not on the spectrum!" or "Haha, everyone does that, you can't possibly have ADHD/autism". Not all neurotypical people can never truly understand or empathise with neurodivergent experiences. Our traits are things all humans can have at times but it's not the same.

Just to play devil's advocate for both sides cause I'm an AuDHD witch 😂💖

We are all singing from the same hymn sheet, just different verses. Big love to you all ✊🥰

KIDDIN' ONNNNN 😂

Slightly offtopic but, check out Mikhila McDaid's yt channel and threads on Tattle. For the last 18 months, she's been portraying herself as having ADHD - after having no signs of it until it became 'trendy' on tiktok etc. She's been on yt 12 years - so, the difference in her behaviour over the last 18 months is extraordinary. She paid £1000 last week for a zoom meeting diagnosis......

That's a bleeping disgrace. I could possibly be lost for words.

What kind of person impersonates someone with ADHD. Who the duck would choose... Like what I would give to not be wired this way, for just one day.

they are protected under the creative license IMO

I mean the names are changed, so with that argument they "lied" about this too.

the bit about him having success after a viral video is also not true for example, Gadd himself said that the convinction was added into it and didnt actually happened in real life.

These things are all fine in my opinion, where it gets critical is how much liability they have if Fiona didnt actually do all of this. The jail things is less relevant in my opinion, because ultimately it doesnt damage her reputation more if this was the case and she still did everything she is accused of. But the extent of the stalking (physical violence, groping etc.) is a different matter. They did change her name, but they made it piss easy to track her down. There will be courts/juries that could hold them responsible.

I find it hard to believe that a massive corporation like Netflix would not have had their legal team consider all of this beforehand. At the end of the day, BR is not a documentary. Whilst it has been touted as “a true story” - it’s for entertainment purposes. It’s a limited series. They had to write certain things to fit in space they had - e.g. Martha going to prison so as not to leave it open ended.

I think where RG fell down was that a) he didn’t anticipate it being as big as it is; b) which in turn meant perhaps he didn’t think FH would catch wind of it and/or be identified; and c) even if she was, she’d never have the means to sue. When he said he didn’t think she’d recognise herself, I genuinely believe he meant that due to the fact she clearly has a warped sense of reality. (Like she probably genuinely believes she never sent 41,000 emails…)

Marketed as a true story.
Most damning is the sexual assault / groping, and the physical assault on Gadd’s girlfriend.

Surely NF would need to fact check any script content?

Or put a clause in such as ‘inspired by true events’ or similar?

She didn't go to prison for stalking him. I'm not even sure he pressed charges. She just has previous charges for similar offences.

I suppose if Gadd never reported the SA and his girlfriend didn’t report the assault then Netflix would pretty much have to take his word for it no? Unlike the emails etc where he’d have evidence to show, he wouldn’t for those. Perhaps bruises on his girlfriend I suppose but even that would only really prove *someone* had assaulted her - not that FH had.

I can see it getting very messy indeed if she does take legal action - if it turns out Gadd has lied to Netflix, I expect the contract he signed will mean he’s in deep deep tit and they’ll say “we believed him, this is all on him”. We already know the jail isn’t true… the SA and girlfriend assault are sounding doubtful, what else will turn out to be wrong/exaggerated? Even something like “It was only 1000 emails” could be turned right against him.

Sorry I know this is off the FH current topic and this may have already been addressed but been discussing with friends about Darrien and they suggested Sam Bain of Peep Show fame.

They reckon there were clues in the show, the awkward Mark-like delivery of the line “chance would be a fine thing”, the “Something Stupid” sing-a-long and the rainbow rhythms-esque drama school scene. Ian’s when you consider some of the Peep Show plots (Mark’s rape and how that’s treated, Jeremy and Super Hans getting high and performing sex acts on each other, Jeremy ultimately realising he is gay etc) well it made me think. I’ve looked up the guy and he looks pretty similar to the actor also.

This is obviously all just my friends speculation and it seems there’s similar talk on other social media but has this guy been ruled out and we’ve missed it? I thought if anyone would know it’d be Tattle!

But wouldnt it be on netflix to do their due diligence and not just take his word for it?

When you sell stories to the press, they contact the other parties to verify. Typically, in netflix docs they will often include, ‘we reached out to ____, who would not comment’.
The only difference i see here is that they believed they were not actually identifying Fiona, therefore not possibly defaming her, so they did not think it necessary to do so.
But in this case then, they should have done a better job at covering her identity.

Netflix have said the emails are all real, I think if FH was to sue she would ultimately need to admit she did stalk him but didnt sexually assault him and what is she going to gain from that?
