Now that DCI Cassie Stuart has sadly left us (and left me in an odd situation) I'll be tuning in for Nicola Walker's new drama "Annika", tonight at 9pm on Alibi.

Anybody else going to be watching?

Finding the 4th wall breaking a bit awkward. It’s no Fleabag in that regard. So far I don’t see what it adds to it. However, I love Nicola Walker so will definitely watch it all

I'm the same . I love Nicola Walker ( as you may have guessed 😂) but I'm just not sure about the programme. It's like they're trying to cram too much in in the an hour. Way too many suspects and no one really gets eliminated, she just realises who it is at the last minute.
Unforgotten was different. An hour was fine because it was a continuation series, but Annika either needs to be two hours long (a la Midsomer Murders, Inspector George Gently etc) or else they need to have less suspects in every episode.

The daughter is annoying me a bit too.

Christ I’m struggling with it. The writers or director hasn’t understood the use of breaking the 4th wall…2nd episode is basically N.W. preaching at the audience, narrating if you will, it’s all levels of wrong. It’s a shame because she’s a damn good talent. It’s a bloody hard watch!

Ah interesting. This must be based on the Radio 4 dramas 'Annika Stranded' also with Nicola Walker.
Each story was only 15 mins each but very good. Still on BBC Sounds.

I think NW is an excellent actress but was put off by her odd accent in this (only seen first ep, it hasn’t gripped me)

I wanted to watch this based on the adverts, but I don't have access to Alibi channel to see it unfortunately. Hopefully in a year or two UKTV will air it on Drama for me to watch.
