American Murder: The Family Next Door - Netflix

sorry if anyone has asked but did the girls get killed after they were driven or before? He said that he killed them when they got there but people are saying *bodies* so I’m not sure if he killed them at home? Can someone clarify?

Edit; sorry I’ve just seen someone else did ask but has it been confirmed?

The last words of the second girl to die, 'No daddy' are haunting me today.

I don't understand why to have a new life with the gf he felt he had to murder everyone? From other real crime docs I've noticed guys like this seem to think annihilating your family is a better fresh start than a divorce.
I don’t think I’ve sobbed so hard at a documentary

No one really knows what happened that night apart from the way they were murdered, ie strangled or smothered. He claims he drove them when they were alive and killed them at the oil tank sight but he also claimed he tried to kill them before he killed Shanann. I did read somewhere that the detectives believed he killed them at the house but who knows. Basically he’s a complete liar and I don’t think we’ll ever know the truth, unless they find some new evidence.

I know there have been murders like this in the past but this one in particular really gets to me. I guess because the way he was with the girls was so well documented in videos and photos. You can see how much they loved him. And yet he took their lives away like *click* that. And the way he described it shows they were scared. Makes me LIVID. I feel for Shanann and her family too but there is no connection with someone like there is with your own children. And then you think SHE WAS PREGNANT. They had named their unborn child. You can see he wasn't happy when she announced but at least she tried to make things work. He could've tried or y'know, ask for a divorce if she wasn't happy.

I watched a YouTube blog yesterday and the reason they were in so much debt was because of medical bills. Shannan had lupus and Celeste had had to have many procedures as a baby.
We are so lucky to have the NHS.
Like others on this thread this whole thing is so disturbing and haunting.
I mentioned to someone I couldn’t get my head around it and she said we are not supposed to.
Makes sense really.

I completely agree. He could have even been a dead beat and just ran off with his mistress and left them to it!! What right did he have to decide to end their lives. And in the way he did it! It’s one of the most evil stories that will stay with me for sure.

i think he's lied that much he probably cant keep track of whats he's told people as he originally told his dad he had to kill Shanann as she had smothered the girls. Then it was he just killed Shannan and the eldest daughter had seen and he made them ride next to their mother body all the way to the oilfield before he killed them both there. On the CCTV footage of him loading stuff into his car at silly o'clock in the morning theres not a flurry of activity of children getting in the car etc so is plausible he killed them all at home and drove their bodies out there

This is one of the most horrific, tragic and heart breaking cases I've ever heard of, I have no words to describe the evil that Chris is.

On watching the documentary, it made me wonder if it was Chris who suggested the name Nico to Shannan for their unborn son. He would be the type to do that out of some sick and twisted nod of honour to his mistress, Nicole.

No Shanann wanted nico as its Italian ( like the girls names) Shanann had Italian blood x

No but there were no comments saying that she drove him to it were there. Lots of people saying they found her annoying but not a single person said she drove him to it or was to blame
I just read up on this thread. I too am appalled by all the victim blaming! Victim blaming isn’t just saying she drove him to it or deserved it. Mentioning she is annoying in a thread about a man KILLING her and her 2 kids in cold blood IS victim blaming.
Imagine if a thread was opened about a girl being violently raped and people would write: “I’m not saying she drove him to it or she was to blame BUT she wore very short skirts and constantly had one night stands.” That IS victim blaming and that is exactly what is being done here. When discussing this monster killing Shannan it shouldn’t even come up whether she was annoying or not. Shame on you. And RIP to this beautiful woman and her 3 angels 😔

I think some folk are just trying in their own minds to figure out why someone would do such a thing and looking for excuses when quite frankly, there are none. It is incomprehensible. He’s a despicable, cowardly POS who deserves to rot for what he’s done. Annoying or not, he had more than one choice that night, and he chose to end four lives.

Shanann picked the name, I don’t Chris had much say in the name. The amounts of Nicole’s than Nicole’s son is Nicholas and then Nico.

I was in America when this story broke and I followed it, well as much as I could stomach as it honestly upset me so much. I had to fast forward the clips of the girls or Shannan on the documentary as I couldn’t watch them, knowing what happened to them.

I will say, my best friend is an American MLM’er who also had a well paid job. The whole posting continually and making life look “amazing” is something I’m used to seeing for her and her “teamies” She was also in a lot of debt but on the outside was living the dream. Her husband had no idea the level of debt they were in, purely because she was better with the money (ironic) and he let her get in with it as she had the bank log ins and he just believed things were ok. I don’t think the Watts circumstances -the lifestyle, debt, social media footprint are unusual at all. I think it’s rife but the difference is, people don’t murder their entire family then use it as an excuse.

Has anyone else seen the video on YouTube that actually shows someone else was in the house that morning ... you can clearly see a female leaving the house from the neighbours CCTV ....
I personally don't think it's a female but Chris himself. To me, the image quality is too, too zoomed and cropped, too much flare from the light behind so it's distorted, definitely not clear either way. I also think the police would have used everything at their disposal including working out the height of the person etc so if there was any merit at all to it they'd have worked it out more than a youtube armchair detective. Someone, somewhere would have cleaned those images up by now, even for the youtube hits if there was anything to show I think. Just my opinion obvs

Ive only seen the footage shown in the docu but if it's the same footage angle. You cant really see their driveway can you? I thought the neighbours van blocked most of it? I could be wrong though.

The comments on YouTube are very much ‘OMG that’s her!’ Where as if you look at reddit for instance people are a bit more objective and reasoned.
To be honest, as said before, if they have no evidence of direct involvement they can’t do anything much. Even if it were her, she could say ‘he called me over, I saw he’d killed everyone, I was scared for my life’
And unless she went out of her way to lie or cover up which would only be obstruction of justice or accessory, which would be hard to prove, they can’t do anything.
It really doesn’t matter what they know in terms of her guilt, it’s what can be proved with evidence.

Okay watched it, looks like a man to me but what do I know haha.
