American Murder: The Family Next Door - Netflix

I watched this yesterday and just caught up on the thread.
What an evil man.

One thing I wondered about was why was her friend so concerned so early on?
If I had dropped off my friend at 2am and then she wasn’t answering texts or calls in the morning, I’d assume she was having a lie in. What was it that made her friend contact the police so soon? I think she said Shanann had been distraught that weekend. Perhaps she was concerned that she might commit suicide because I can’t see any other reason why the police would rush over so soon. This wasn’t really explained in the documentary.

I also think he killed the girls at home before he killed Shanann. When Shanann was texting him from the airport, she asked where the girls were. He replied that they were asleep. I think they were already dead then.

I found their wedding video so sad. Shanann’s family clearly adored Chris so he was either a very good actor or he changed greatly after the marriage. His mother clearly didn’t think Shanann was good enough for her son. He then loses 180lbs which is a huge amount. Did I mishear the amount because that’s over a 12 stone loss? He looked overweight at their wedding but not obese. After the weight loss I think he changed and he thought he could do better too.

The way he treated them after death was truly despicable. I wouldn't be able to stand by my son if he’d done that so it says a lot about his mother too that she remains so deluded about what he has done.
I disagree that the girls were already dead. Any normal mother would come home and poke a head through the door to see their girls after some time away, even just to see them sleeping. If she had found them dead then she would obviously raise the alarm and Chris would not be able to kill her in her sleep.

Can’t remember if it was In a podcast or in the case bundle but apparently the friend worked for Thrive too and they often collaborated. Shanann would text her at 6-7am every morning so when she didn’t hear anything it was very unusual

He could have placed them back in bed, so a quick peek around the door and nothing would seem amiss. If she went to kiss them, then yes I see your point. I guess we will never know.

My theory is that she saw they were dead when she got back and that’s why she didn’t put up a fight when he strangled her. That picture he sent to her before she got on the flight was absolutely horrific as well, especially now knowing what happened to the girls.

I came to this thread earlier in the week having watched it the night before. It really pulled on my heart strings and I was so interested to read about all of our thoughts. Sadly, I was horrified at some of the comments and I can’t stress enough....you saw snippets of this family and this gives you no right to decide what happened behind closed doors. You can wonder, by all means. But your opinions are not facts. I was amazed. Comments saying she was annoying, she clearly drove him to it etc. FFS. I am a loving wife, can be fun, spontaneous, up for a joke but by no means does that mean I don’t make sarcastic comments or get a bit wound up from time to time, like WE ALL DO. If someone caught me on camera getting snarky to my husband because I’ve asked him 3 times to take the bins out yet he still forgot and walked right past them...I would be mortified if people then thought I was some wicked witch who was a nightmare to live with..based on those 30 seconds.

She was a daughter/ sister/ mother and a good friend to many who all say she brought joy to their lives. They knew her, you don’t. Just because we have freedom of speech and can say ‘anything we like’ really doesn’t mean we should. Read your comments back and see if you would be happy if someone wrote it about (say for instance) your daughter, would you hit send? Most of the time I guarantee you wouldn’t.

I think Shanann had a hospital appointment the next day that her friend was going to attend with her. She got concerned when she couldn’t get hold of her and while waiting for the police (or while the initial officer was there) she rang the hospital who confirmed Shanann had not attended the appointment,

I must have missed these, I haven’t seen anyone say that??

Read the chorus lyrics I think that’s why people found it odd and strange 🤢
duck! I missed that yesterday. Maybe I looked at the wrong song.

On Bailey Sarian’s YT video she said that Chris sent Shanann a picture of one of the girls lying on the sofa with a sheet over her like a corpse when she was away. You can see it on her video. It was extremely creepy.
It was a doll. It’s weird that he claimed his daughter did it and sent it to Shannan but Shannan found it funny enough to post to her FB. Funny that the Dad first thinks of this to prove it might have been planned by Shannan, not knowing Chris took the picture or that he had committed the murders

It was early in the week, lots of comments of a similar nature and then people started to call them out saying it was wrong to be ‘victim blaming’. Unless there are 2 of these threads?! Or they’ve gone now? Not sure 🤔

No but there were no comments saying that she drove him to it were there. Lots of people saying they found her annoying but not a single person said she drove him to it or was to blame

So ironic isn’t it. He saw it on Shananns facebook and just presumed it was her doing when actually it was his son. She couldn’t do anything right in their eyes

I think the new girlfriend should be accountable in some way, she co operated with police and is now under witness protection, but I just feel she must have been pushing him , for him to get rid of his entire family like that. She got of lightly. Also I assumed he drowned the girls in the tanks??? Did he not say as he let go of the oldest that's when she said no?

Bella has signs of trauma to her face and tongue consistent with her having struggled while being smothered ☹ There was also no oil in the girls lungs which means they were dead when they entered the tanks

He suffocated them first. Post mortem shows signs of suffocation too. I guess they could have woken up but nothing in the report suggests oil in their lungs.

TBH I don’t think I’d believe a word out of his mouth, letters from Christopher or whatever. He’s trying to stay relevant and interesting to people when he should be locked in a dark room with no one even giving him the time of day. No doubt he’ll come up with some new salacious details with this renewed interest to feed his ego. He’s a piece of tit that deserves to rot and while I find it a very interesting case I hate that it gives him interest.

Re: the girlfriend - Anyone interested in a case where the partner was 100% involved, if not the driving force but got off Scott free, look at the Marie Carlson Case

Just watched this..credit to the producers, was a really good way of doing this, even though the outcome is awful..

Haven't checked for a thread, but has anyone watched The disappearance of Susan Powell? It's very similar..
