Aedan Duckworth Hollyoaks - Abrupt Recast

Is anyone else wondering why Aedan Duckworth was re-casted from Hollyoaks so quickly and with so little explanation? The statement from the spokesman at Hollyoaks was very emotionless too. It read "
Aedan Duckworth is no longer appearing in Hollyoaks and his role has been recast".

It's very strange that he would be re-cast when the actor appeared in a flashforward scene and the character didn't have a proper on-screen departure. The wording of the spokesman makes me wonder if he was sacked, he was also cut from the opening titles. I saw something on Twitter that suggested he was abusive towards the cast, though I haven't seen any confirming proof.
 
I’ve been wondering this too. I am in a few hollyoaks spoiler groups on Facebook and one of the assumptions on there was that he made racist comments towards the actress who plays Brooke. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know but I’ve seen numerous people suggesting it.

i think he had to have been sacked rathe than walked just because of the way it was handled, as you said the statement was very abrupt. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be so abrupt if he had left on good terms..
 
I'm in Hollyoaks spoiler groups too 🙈 all I have seen is the same, that he was racist towards the actress who plays Brooke. Which is a shame because they were quite good together on screen

I'm a bit unsure about the new Ollie, he seems to have had a personality transplant. And what's the ket about !?
 
I saw on another forum someone suggested that Taila Grant posted something on Instagram about an abuser. I don't know whether she was the reason Aedan is no longer part of the show but I do wonder. Her parents are also very well known and I think they'd be highly influencial, which makes it easy to see why he would be sacked (if he was).

Other cast members have been commenting on his Instagram though, which I think would make things awkward on set with Talia if there had been a fall out.

He's done a photo shoot recently, so it doesn't seem as though he's having any personal problems or decided to give up fame/acting.

Very strange indeed.
 
It’s very strange indeed. I heard the racism rumours but also heard he simply didn’t renew his contract due to covid fears. I’d love to know the truth. Is he still on social media? (I don’t use it).

He is still on social media, he recently did a photo shoot. I searched his name on Twitter to see if I could find any more information, but nothing! I am itching to know more!

I don't think it's fair to make this assumption. Yes her parents are very well known but they don't seem like the type of people to wade in...

Rumours of racist comments were swirling and if they're true, I think it's more a case of those, combined with BLM this year + Rachel A leaving and highlighting her experiences of racism behind the scenes that led to the swift sacking.

I'd have thought if someone experienced racism, they'd say so... especially with the Black Lives Matter being prominent... Hmmm
 
I read the racist comments rumours but then also read that he’d decided to chuck it to become a Fire Fighter and Hollyoaks weren’t best pleased because of the storylines which were already planned.
Who knows tho 🤔

No, but I thought this was bumped because there WAS some news lol.

And now I’ve bumped it again 🙄😆

I’m convinced it was to do with Brooke, I don’t think it was a racist thing as suggested but I think it was about the non-binary thing, probably misgendered her and she took offence. I assumed this is why she was given that particular storyline.
