Watching. He's a monster.Anyone else watched/watching this?
I watched all episodes on iplayer and having really enjoyed the first series I found this one a bit drawn out and dull. Claire Foy is excellent, but I'm a bit torn on my sympathies for the duchess.

But yes I agree with you, hard to have sympathy with her given her conduct. It sort of shocked me how his mood changed when he was carrying her over the threshold, I wanted her to run. Really enjoying it. Found it difficult not to see the Queen at first but its fine now.Oh yeah he is for sure
It's a very interesting story, the judges remarks were most unfair, there was definitely a tone that women should look the other way when their husbands did the same. She was a real beauty in her day and so stylish, I respected her a lot for not throwing her gay friends under the bus.I'm enjoying it I think. It seems like every episode is about 2 hours long, as its quite slow, but an interesting story. It is hard to have sympathy with her, and she got taught a harsh lesson after she brushed off his other wives warnings, but it seems in real life, he got off scot free, after fleecing 3 women of all their money while she died in penury. His family still live in the castle.
And trying to buy a baby! If it wasn't a true story you would think it was too ridiculous. I think she must have just been a bored and hedonistic person who did not think anything through and realised too late that she had got herself into a terrible situation, and had to secure her future the only way she could. I couldn't work out why she had given him so much money for his fantasy treasure hunt and to renovate his castle when the whole lot would just go to his son but she doesn't seem to have thought of that at all. Maybe because it wasn't her money. She was incredibly foolish forging the letter from his ex wife so I can understand his anger. Otherwise he was a terrible man
I wonder what the current Duke of Argyll thinks of the programme? Is it his son now or grandson? No doubt the DM will publish a sad face article about how he was just misunderstood if they are unhappy with it.I loved this, watched all the episodes in one sitting. Certainly, she did some foolish things, but he was awful, just chasing money all the time. I went as a paid visitor to Inveraray Castle when I was a small child, and my abiding memory of the Duke was him walking through the visitors, in a kilt, and he had a huge hole in the heel of his sock. I came from a poorer part of Glasgow, where a hole in a sock would have been shameful, it would have been darned straight away, a darn had some self respect about it at least.
Grandson. I would love to hear the dirt but he seems quite discreet.I wonder what the current Duke of Argyll thinks of the programme? Is it his son now or grandson? No doubt the DM will publish a sad face article about how he was just misunderstood if they are unhappy with it.
