Voting day is upon us.

It's been an interesting few months.

The media seem split, some say Harris has definitely won it, some say Trump has definitely won it.

Results might take a while to come in - here's the BBC's guide to when they might be available.

Mess. And PA is probably the one state that could decide it all.

Last-minute challenges in battleground Pennsylvania target thousands of mail-in ballots

Thousands of mail-in ballots in the battleground state of Pennsylvania have been targeted for rejection as part of a last-minute campaign that has set off alarms for voting rights groups and exasperated local election officials.

The effort – which appears to be spearheaded by just a handful of individuals – is seeking to toss out ballots from overseas voters and to challenge the eligibility of people who, at some point, had requested to have their mail forwarded to another address.More than a dozen counties received these challenges, according to CNN’s outreach to local and state officials.

Some election boards already have set aside the complaints as meritless, but they come as officials are scrambling to carry Tuesday’s consequential election in a state that could determine the outcome of the race for the White House.

“It’s going to make voters nervous and it’s creating totally – frankly – BS work for election boards when they’re trying to do an important job,” said Ari Savitzky, a senior attorney for the ACLU.

In some counties, the challenges were filed minutes before the Friday deadline for such objections. Bucks County, for instance, received nearly 1,200 challenges to overseas voters about 15 minutes before the 5 p.m. deadline Friday deadline, according to county spokesperson Jim O’Malley.

For @Ndrangheta

Latest from the Donald.

I'm not in the US so have no have no vote.

I hope whoever wins does a good job for Americans.

It's looking like the UK chose the wrong party.
I hope Americans make the right choice........whatever that is.

Good luck.

If it's close and Trump just edges it then it's the euthanized squirrel what won it.

Imagine that, a pet used by an onlyfans thirst trap ho is the thing to sway an election o_O

Don’t know if it was intentional but if it was his PR team is lowkey genius

Using an emotional story about an animal being euthanised with an existing large fan base like this. Does make you wonder if it’s been effective

That's government overreach but Republican states banning abortions is not. What a time to be alive.

Whoever wins I hope the states where the abortion bans are challenged on the ballot will bring back a bit more of sanity. Too many women already died because they couldn't access abortion. I also deeply believe children should be wanted and loved to stand a chance in this chaotic world.

Yeah his pr has been brilliant, part luck but I think he's got a good team that's on it.

You can just imagine the faces dropping at team kamala when they heard the squirrel had been killed. If only they'd waited a few more days.

Kamala's team has been pretty lacklustre, they had lady gaga performing and lady gaga posted a link to the live stream and only 30k were watching. Her team have had all the money and resources to very little avail.

I don't know what's scarier - Trump winning or what will happen if he doesn't. There was a woman on the news last night, appeared a completely normal, well-dressed, literate, reasonable person and then they asked her about guns. "Oh yeah I got a machine gun and rifles and a few handguns". A machine gun!? What the hell!? She was talking about her guns like it was a teapot collection. If she struck me as one of the normal ones, imagine what the crazy, evangelical ones have got up their sleeves.

Yes, I saw that too. It was bizarre. She was so proud of her collection.

I joined this thread last time voting took place, albeit mainly to read all the updates posters included as the results came through during the night. It was great. 😃

@Yel Would it be possible to include a poll on this thread please asking posters who they'd prefer to win the election? Many thanks.

I think Kamala will win it due to the last minute surge of white women aged 40+ breaking for Kamala. This trend was reported over the weekend in the FT. They said that this voter group is more likely to be undecided than ideological and will vote based on policies rather than a tribal affiliation left or right. It’s a voter group that apparently dislikes the prospect of chaos and violence and also wants women to have full control over their reproductive choices. But, they also tend to keep their voting choice quiet and don’t respond much to polling. So yeah I think this group has every reason to get in the voting booth and quietly vote Kamala.

They've said the same about Trump, people don't own up to voting for him in media polls, so he's also said to have this hidden cache of voters that don't show on the pre-election polls.

Ah good idea, I'll add two options as only 1/5 of tattle is American and most people are in Europe or Australia

Yes I agree with the phenomenon of the 'shy Trump vote' but I think people are less shy now about admitting they support Trump.

I do believe that this contingent I identified, 'soccer moms' they're called, are sufficiently concerned about violence under a Trump presidency, and about female bodily autonomy, that they will break for Kamala.

This article explains it really well imo: https://unherd.com/2024/11/will-soccer-moms-score-for-kamala/

Obviously never say never, and I do fear that Trump supporters might try to overturn the election result with violence, but I also feel that Americans have had enough of culture wars and want stability, so Kamala will get more of the swing states than currently projected.

That's great, thank you.

Hope this little find will help the non- Americans to understand the procedure.

It's too close to call. It's on a knife-edge. Oh purleez. You know why the polling companies are saying this don't you? It's because they don't want to put their necks on the block and get it wrong because if they do they're out of business. It's such a pathetic grift it really is. Nobody with a brain buys this garbage yet the desperate corporate media play along as if it's 'a thing'. They hang their entire shows on 'polling data'. It's a big scam.

Any of us here could go on mainstream tv and give our view and it would be just as valid as the 'experts' they wheel on. Of course we have far too much integity to bullshit the public that way. Well done us! 😬

I will officially start drinking heavily around 7pm GMT. So if I don't see you all for a few days, have a wonderful election night and stay safe! Kamala by a country mile. You heard it hear first (ish). Toodles!
